Say Hello to the 2027 Kia Seltos: Ontario's Next Big Reveal

The 2027 Kia Seltos delivers exactly that - and more than the first generation ever did.

This second-generation Seltos is a complete redesign. Kia stretched the wheelbase by 60 mm, added 25 mm of rear legroom and headroom, and introduced a hybrid powertrain. The result is a subcompact SUV that feels bigger inside without losing the easy-to-park footprint that makes it practical for downtown Owen Sound or a tight cottage driveway.

Three Powertrains, One Mission

The 2027 Seltos offers three engines: a 2.0-litre for simplicity, a 1.6-litre turbo for power, and a new hybrid for fuel economy without sacrificing capability.

The 2.0-litre engine pairs with Kia's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) and is standard on LX, EX, and EX Premium trims. It's designed for daily commuting and highway cruising.

The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine produces 190 hp through an 8-speed automatic transmission, exclusive to X-Line and X-Line Limited trims. Choose this for quicker acceleration when merging onto Highway 26 or passing on two-lane roads.

The hybrid powertrain is the lineup's most meaningful addition. It uses a 1.6-litre four-cylinder with a 6-speed dual clutch transmission, available in front-wheel drive or with Kia's new electric all-wheel drive (e-AWD) system - a first for a Kia hybrid SUV. The e-AWD adds traction on demand without the weight and complexity of mechanical all-wheel drive.

Bigger Inside, Easier to Use

The longer wheelbase and taller roofline give the 2027 Seltos more interior space. Rear legroom and headroom each increase by 25 mm - a real difference if you have kids in car seats or teenagers needing actual legroom.

Cargo capacity is now 1,817 litres behind the first row and 786 litres behind the second row.

The cabin follows Kia's "Opposites United" philosophy with clean lines, a squared-off steering wheel, and an open centre console. The dashboard features dual 12.3-inch displays - one for instruments, one for infotainment - plus an available 5-inch climate control panel. Total screen real estate is nearly 30 inches, matching the larger EV9.

Wireless smartphone connectivity is available across the lineup. USB-C ports sit between the centre console and climate controls, with additional charging ports in the front seatbacks for rear passengers.

X-Line trims get an exclusive monotone black interior with SynTex upholstery and mesh headrests. The X-Line Limited adds Relaxation Seats with recline and adjustable footrest - a luxury SUV feature in a subcompact.

Safety Systems That Work in the Background

The 2027 Seltos includes a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) as standard equipment across all trims.

Standard features include:

  • Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning
  • Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist with steering correction
  • Parking Distance Warning (forward and reverse)
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Lane Following Assist
  • Driver Attention Warning
  • High-Beam Assist
  • Intelligent Speed-Limit Assist
  • Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go

Available features include a 3D Surround-View Monitor and Kia's Blind-Spot View Monitor, which displays a video feed of your blind spot on the digital display when you activate the turn signal.

Design That Stands Apart

The 2027 Seltos is longer, taller, and wider than the first generation while maintaining its recognizable profile. The boxy upright design gives it a more rugged appearance than most subcompact SUVs, and flush door handles add a modern touch.

Standard wheels are 16-inch alloys. EX and EX Premium trims upgrade to 18-inch alloys, while X-Line trims get 19-inch black wheels. The X-Line also includes unique bumpers and side sills with dark gun metal accents.

New exterior colours for 2027 include Terrain Brown and Frost Blue. A panoramic sunroof is available across the lineup.

Trim Breakdown

The 2027 Seltos offers five trims: LX, EX, EX Premium, X-Line, and X-Line Limited. The hybrid arrives later this year.

LX: The entry-level trim features the 2.0-litre engine with IVT and 16-inch alloy wheels, providing essential features for daily driving.

EX: Adds 18-inch alloy wheels and additional convenience features with the 2.0-litre engine and IVT.

EX Premium: Builds on EX with upgraded interior materials and additional technology, keeping the 2.0-litre engine and IVT.

X-Line: Features the 1.6-litre turbocharged engine with 190 hp and 8-speed automatic, plus 19-inch black wheels, SynTex upholstery, and aggressive exterior design.

X-Line Limited: Top trim with the same 1.6-litre turbo and 8-speed automatic, adding Relaxation Seats and additional luxury features.

The hybrid will be available in front-wheel drive and e-AWD configurations. More details on hybrid-specific trims will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
